The average MLB starting pitcher strikes out about 7.5–8 batters per 9 innings. Elite strikeout pitchers average 10+ per 9 innings. A higher strikeout rate generally means better over props.
Pitchers with higher strikeout rates are more likely to go over their strikeout prop lines. But the line adjusts too — a pitcher who averages 9 Ks might have his line set at 7.5 or 8.5, depending on the matchup.
